Abs Ball – Secrets to Flat Abs

Have you heard that using an abs ball might improve your abs workout?

What exactly is an abs ball?

An abs ball is a weighted ball, between 6 and 8 pounds.  It looks like a basketball with 2 handles.  The handles are a good thing… they help you to grip the ball easily.  This allows you to focus on your workout, not on holding the ball.

But I need to warn you… many people are confused and mistake an abs ball for an excercise ball.  So what’s an excercise ball?

An excercise ball looks like a large, inflatable beach ball.  But it’s made of a burst-resistant material so you can sit on it.

They’re both useful in increasing the intensity of your abs workout.  The excercise ball allows a wider range of motion because you can lean back beyond horizontal.  And because it’s unstable you engage all your core muscles to keep you balanced.  The abs ball has the added benefit of its weight, adding weight training to your abs workout.

As with any workout you should start with at least 5 minutes of cardio to warm up your muscles before you start exercising.  And be sure to cool down and stretch after your workout.

But you may be surprised to learn that neither of these balls will remove stomach fat.  Losing excess weight and reducing fat is the first step in developing 6-pack abs or a flat and toned tummy.  Don’t bypass this critical step.

So your first step is engaging in appropriate cardiovascular exercises to burn calories, lose weight and reduce fat.  It won’t do you any good to do an intense abs workout if your abs are hidden under layers of fat.

The whole goal of your cardio exercise should be to step up your metabolic rate.  Because you need to burn more calories each day than you consume to lose weight.  So it only stands to reason that you need to be mindful of your diet and nutrition as well.

Don’t waste time with a fad diet.  Focus on eating a healthy diet of natural, whole, unprocessed foods and be mindful of portion size.

That’s the true secret to six-pack abs or the flat tummy you desire.
